A new luxury hotel with a 27th-floor rooftop patio is coming to downtown Calgary next year

From The Palliser to The Le Germain, Calgary has a handful of beautiful luxury hotels that anyone would feel lucky to spend the night in and now as a city, we’re one step closer to having one more. Today, Calgary’s EllisDon and the PBA Group announced that they’ve finally topped off The Dorian, a brand new, $110 Million destination located on 5th Avenue and 5th Street downtown.

At 27 stories, The Dorian will feature 308 incredible suites and will create a “sophisticated, upscale space for travellers and locals alike,” sparing no expense to make guests feel comfortable.

Now, although they haven’t opened yet, its parent hotel, The Marriott, announced that The Dorian will be the very first affiliate in all of Alberta to be awarded their coveted Autograph Collection accolade.

So what makes this place so special?

Well, inspired by Oscar Wilde’s novel The Picture Of Dorian Gray, this mega hotel will have a stunning courtyard, feature products made and manufactured here in Calgary and will have Calgary’s first 27th-floor outdoor patio and lounge.

“The Dorian is a good match for the demographics of our city. Our youthful, aspiring global citizens want to experience the best the world has to offer right here at home,” said CEO of Calgary’s Economic Development department, Mary Moran, on their website.

“As a city, we’re ready and able to have a bigger footprint on the international stage. The Dorian is helping us move even further in both directions.”

Of course, in addition to some pretty neat bonus experiences, The Dorian will also be fitted with stunning decor inspired by some of the world’s best hotels from Shanghai to Chicago which we’re practically dying to see in person.

Sadly, though, as we mentioned earlier, it will be a while until any of us can step foot in the hotel.

Slated for a June 2022 opening, a day trip to the mega hotel will have to be placed on the backburner – but it won’t be too long!
