Listen up Vancouverites, your weekend entertainment all August long has been taken care of. And it’s free, thanks to downtown BIA’s Granville Promenade (and their Community Sponsor, Telus Mobility).
After a successful run last year, the street fest is back this year for its second season. Only this time around, it is going to be a lot bigger and grander.
Every weekend of August, the two blocks between Smithe St. and Helmcken St. will convert into a pedestrian-only zone from 1 pm to 7 pm. What will unfold on these blocks is a slew of fun activations— street art, live music, dance, performances, pop-up markets, patios and a lot more.
Here’s a sneak peek into what you can expect at this year’s fest—
Van Vogue Jam
The festival kicks off with a massive dance party, courtesy of Van Vogue Jam. There’ll be performances by seasoned artists, voguing workshops, gogo dancing, bizarre costumes and a massive ball. Gear up to learn a Vogue move or two.

TAIWANfest
The iconic Asian festival will be back in full form this September. But ahead of its official launch, the festival is giving us a teaser at the Granville Promenade. Prepare to be amazed by entertaining cultural performances and music.

Caravan World Rhythms
Caravan World Rhythms is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the rich artistic diversity of the many cultures of the world. And top-notch artists, dance and music from varied cultures are what they’re bringing to the streets of Granville.

Vancouver Mural Festival
Art enthusiast or not, it is practically impossible to not be impressed by the sheer magnanimity of creative talent. In addition to great art, expect a packed schedule full of DJs, drag performers, dancers, and markets curated by Public Disco, Bye Felicia, Tongue Market and more.

“GED Buskers” by EventLAB
EventLAB’s mission is to build communities through live events, and this year they’re bringing some of our favourite musicians and acts from last year’s promenade!
When: Saturday, August 20th
The Roxy Cabaret
We’ve known and loved this electric bar for decades. From live bands and DJs to comedy acts to theme nights, the bar has something fun up its sleeve all the damn time. And it’s bringing all that fun to the Granville Promenade for your entertainment at ours.
When: Sunday, August 21st
Osito Events
You know a party is going to be lit when it promises underground electronic music, good vibes and inclusivity. So, be assured to be thoroughly partied out at the Osito Events party. Expect a full day of local underground DJs and producers, live dance performances, hula hoopers and tons more.
When: Saturday, August 27th
Locals Lounge
Bringing the festival to an end on just as musically high a note as it started, Local Lounge will make a return to the festival. And they are bringing along acoustic acts, full bands, and solo artists representing a multitude of musical genres and cultural influences.
