We’ll be the first to admit that Dine Out Vancouver can be a little, well, overwhelming. With hundreds of restaurants participating, the food festival can have your head spinning in no time with all the options available. So, to make things a bit more digestible (groan), we’ve rounded up our top picks, no matter what you’re hungry for! Let’s get started, shall we?

Here are 7 great options to try during Dine Out Vancouver this year.

Italian- Pepino’s Spaghetti House

Why not kick things off with a little bit of pasta? This year, we’re loving what’s on offer from Pepino’s. Start with a caesar salad or mozza sticks, then choose from the classic spaghetti & meatballs, rigatoni alla vodka, or chicken piccata as a main. Then, finish things off with some tiramisu for good measure.

Where: 631 Commercial Drive
Cost: $45

Japanese- Minami

If you’re craving some sushi instead, then we’re suggesting the lunch deal from Minami. Why? Because part of the three-course meal available here is a selection of their pressed (oshi) and flame-seared (aburi) sushi, which they’ve become famous for.

Where: 1118 Mainland Street
Cost: $45

West Coast- Hawskworth Restaurant

While Hawksworth is one of the nicest restaurants in the city, that’s only part of why we picked it. Turns out, the lunch option they’ve got is one of the cheapest meals on this list. The three-course meal starts with a squash salad, some smoked fish chowder as a main, and banana cake for dessert! At $29, it’s a steal.

Where: 801 W Georgia Street
Cost: $29

South-East Asian- Potluck Hawker Eatery

We’ve been big fans of Potluck Hawker Eatery ever since it opened, and Dine Out is a great opportunity to see why! Choose between a variety of Malaysian, Thai and Filipino dishes, ranging from roti to start to a salted egg pork chop sando or one of their signature dishes- Nasi Lemak with a variety of toppings.

Where: 3424 Cambie Street
Cost: $25

Taiwanese- A.Bento

Taiwanese desserts have long been a Vancouver favourite, and the savoury stuff is just as good! A.Bento is offering a three-course dinner for Dine Out Vancouver this year. Our top pick from what they’ve got in mind? That’s easy- a ‘Taiwanese Night Market’ style sizzling chicken plate with black pepper sauce.

Where: 656 West Broadway
Cost: $35

Brunch- Fufu Cafe

For those craving a breakfast/brunch option, we’ve got Fufu Cafe. The original spot for Japanese-style souffle pancakes in the city, Fufu Cafe is offering a variety of savoury ‘eggs benedict’ style dishes, using everything from smoked salmon to local Oyama sausage.

Where: 1266 W Broadway
Cost: $29

Vegan and Vegetarian- The Acorn

Last but not least, we come to The Acorn for anyone craving some vegan or vegetarian options. This year, they’re opting for a 7-course family-style tasting menu, which basically shows why they have long been considered one of the best vegan restaurants in the world. Their bookings are sure to sell out, so act fast!
