If you’re a true Torontonian, you’re probably familiar with or have at least heard about the ICE Condominiums, the two massive high-rise towers overlooking the Gardiner Expressway where there never seems to be a dull moment.

The ICE Condos once topped the list of buildings that received the most complaints from residents, especially given how many of the units are used for short-term rentals like Airbnb, according to CBC News. A shooting took place at the towers last October.

Even more, a Reddit thread titled ‘Are ICE condos really that bad?’ hit the r/TorontoRealEstate subreddit eight months ago, where commenters nearly unanimously voiced their displeasure with the buildings.

These condos are not cheap to live in, either. According to a November 2020 report by Zoocasa, the towers were ranked for having the highest prices per square foot among buildings that are popular for short-term rental units.

One TikToker who claims to be a resident of the ICE Condos has been documenting the day-to-day chaos of living in these buildings in a two-part video series, showing frequent police presence, neverending fire alarms, broken elevators, and even “bullet holes.”

“I moved into The ICE Condos in downtown Toronto in July 2020,” the TikToker wrote in the first video, which was posted earlier this month on August 17th. “There was a fire alarm my first weekend there, and basically every weekend after that.”

The video also claims that the garbage chutes are “always out of order,” and that residents of 29 floors only had one elevator to use for several months. Curiocity reached out to ICE Condos’ property management, who declined to comment.

The end of the clip shows the TikToker laughing as a voice over the intercom repeats, “please stay calm.”  The first video has gotten over 143,000 views as of Monday morning and the second clip, posted last week, has gotten over 2.1 million views.

If you ever find yourself living in one of these condos, this is some of the craziness you might encounter.
