There’s no doubt in our minds that the Vancouver Mural Festival has been one of the most transformative things this city has ever seen. In just a few short years, the festival has worked with local artists and ones from around the globe to bring over 250 new public artworks to the city. And of course, they have more planned for this year!

From August 4th until August 22nd, over 60 new murals will be going up in 11 different neighbourhoods around Vancouver. Plus, they’ve brought back some of the events and experiences that made the fest so fun over the years, after a hiatus in 2020.

For those wanting to focus on the art (and the artists), there will be mural tours daily and a whole host of artist talks and workshops. These range from a roundtable with the event’s curators to a public talk on ‘Building Afro-Futurism’, so there’s a ton to look forward to.

The final major announcement is the return of the VMF Pop-Up Patio! This licensed patio will play host to a wide variety of live events, including music concerts and drag shows. While these aren’t super focused on the art itself, we think they’re a great way to unwind after/before you go on a tour.

The events are individually ticketed, and range from free (nice) to around $25 for the larger ones. But, we have a feeling that whatever you pick, you’ll be walking away happy. Tickets are currently onsale, so we suggest moving sooner rather than later if you see something you like.
