October starts with a relatively mild weather report… and we couldn’t be happier

Compared to the summer we’ve had, we could welcome some ‘normal’ weather right about now.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, this upcoming weekend in Edmonton is seeing sunny skies and a high of 15°C on Thursday and Friday. The heat’s going to steadily increase, with Sunday reaching a high of 19°C, but the nights are continuing to get cooler, hitting a low of 2°C on the prior Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Southgate Centre has a new cafe to check out while shopping

Southgate Centre, a mall on the south side of Edmonton, just held the grand opening for its newest cafe addition, Deville Coffee, on Sept. 26.

This cafe brews only direct-trade coffee beans and serves fresh pastries, delivered daily by some of the best bakeries in the city. In addition to its carefully crafted drinks and delicious pastries, there’s also a menu filled with sandwiches and other goodies to snack on. It’s the perfect spot to grab a drink or bite to eat during your next shopping session.

Edmonton is getting a bunch of galactic art installations this upcoming month

From Oct. 16 to 25, Churchill Square is going to be filled with mesmerizing light installations that are bringing art, science, and community together under the night sky. This space-themed light art festival will only be popping up for a limited time, but you’re definitely going to have to stop by with friends for the photo opportunities of a lifetime.

Edmonton International Film Festival is only here for a few more days

The Edmonton International Film Festival is back for more action, bringing along a load of excellent films across two venues in the city. We’re in the midst of it now, with the festival running at two venues from Sept. 24 to Oct. 3.

These movies are absolutely killer, with Edmonton’s annual festival working to highlight the incredible and diverse films from around the world. These films are curated from submissions and solicited from distributors, and this festival showcases high-quality films and presents a series of filmmaker chats, Q&As, gala screenings, local filmmaker spotlights, and more opportunities for film-lovers and makers.

And don’t forget… today is National Coffee Day!

Today, Sept. 29, is National Coffee Day across Canada. This means there’s a whole bunch of deals to take advantage of, and we’ve got you covered.
