Niagara Falls is getting in on the FIFA World Cup 2026 action with its own celebration. The stunning natural wonder will be illuminated with a custom light show.

To mark the start of the biggest sporting event in the world, Niagara Falls will be illuminated with a customized light show featuring the colours of the tournament’s three host nations.

What to expect

Reds, blues, greens, and whites will dance upon the roaring cascade, followed by a sequence showing the colours of each participating country as part of the group stage, according to the Niagara Parks Commission.

The special 15-minute light show will be showcased at 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, along with its nightly fireworks at the same time.

Following the themed light show, Niagara Falls will be illuminated in green, white, and red to celebrate Mexico’s first game of the tournament as a host nation.

And don’t worry, if you can’t make it on opening night, the light show will continue to be displayed each evening throughout the tournament.

Visitors can also expect to see the colours of each participating country featured throughout the group stage.

“The special light show will continue to be displayed each night of the tournament during the nightly illumination of Niagara Falls, along with the colours of each host country on their respective game days throughout the group stage,” shares Niagara Parks Commission.

And as the cherry on top of this global cake, in honour of Team Canada’s first World Cup game played on Canadian soil, Niagara Falls will glow red and white at 9:45 p.m. for 15 minutes. The men’s team is set to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto at 3 p.m. that day.

Later that evening, Niagara Falls will continue the festivities with another tribute to one of the hosts, celebrating the United States’ first game against Paraguay set for 9 p.m.

If you needed another excuse to make the trip to Niagara Falls this season, this is it.
