This free New Year's Eve celebration will light up Toronto's harbourfront

Can you believe it’s already December? Yep. That means the holidays are coming, and so is New Year’s Eve. Making plans for New Year’s Eve can be stressful, especially if you’ve already spent a lot of money over the holidays. Well, Harbourfront Centre is putting on a free celebration along Toronto’s waterfront, and there will be way more than just fireworks.
Let’s start with the skating. The rink will be free to enjoy as DJ Smartiez plays tunes for the evening-long DJ Skate Night. Yep, you can glide around with the city as your backdrop, free of charge. Can you think of a better place to watch the fireworks go off?
Be sure to show up with an appetite, too. Street Eats Market will be in attendance, bringing guests local bites from around the city and warm drinks to sip on while you walk around.
The beloved Harbourfront Express will also be there for anyone who wants to take a final train ride of the year.
The 10-minute fireworks show will begin at midnight on the dot, with synchronized music playing as the harbourfront lights up in gorgeous colours.
The festivities begin at 8 p.m., with the midnight fireworks marking the end of the night (and the beginning of a fantastic new year). Harbourfront Centre is easy to get to, too, located right at Lower Simcoe and Queens Quay West.

If a busy evening with lots of people is not for you, I still recommend heading down to Harbourfront Centre another time during the winter, as the skating rink there is one of the very best outdoor rinks in the city. Open now until March, it’s free to use, and there are rentals available for a cost, meaning you don’t need to own skates to check it out. Rink hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
Goodbye, 2025! We hope you have a safe and fun New Year’s Eve, Toronto.
