B.C.'s beach town will soon glow with thousands of floating Christmas lights

B.C.’s famed beach town of Tofino is about to get a truly whimsical holiday makeover. Now in its sixth year, the beloved annual Sea of Lights has become a tradition at the Tofino Resort and Marina, setting the area aglow with thousands of floating Christmas lights.
Every year, locals and visitors alike gather to witness the decorated vessels turn on their holiday lights. There’s hot chocolate to sip by a fire in the courtyard, carolling to enjoy, and a Christmas tree lighting that will put you in the spirit.
Those who attend can also snag a photo with Santa to capture the memory.

Have something that floats? Sea of Lights organizers urge those interested to enter the competition and decorate their boats for a chance to win the grand prize.
Visitors can also peruse a festive craft market from 5 to 9 p.m., which will feature a variety of island artists and vendors. According to organizers, the market transforms the outdoor-facing rooms on the first floor of the waterfront hotel into cozy boutiques for the evening, allowing for plenty of window shopping and actual shopping opportunities.
You’ll be able to wander from room to room at your leisure, discovering a mix of handcrafted pieces, artisan treats, and treasures while soaking up the festivities.
It all kicks off on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, so mark your calendars and book your ferry over!
