This small Ontario town is turning up the holiday charm this weekend with a one-day, festive open-air market. The Gilford Christmas Market will gather over 30 local makers and artisans for a day filled with one-of-a-kind finds, handmade goodies and holiday decorations. Here’s what to know.

If you needed a reason to hit the road and go on a little adventure, make your way to Gilford, Ont., this Saturday. This charming community is located on the shores of Lake Simcoe in Innisfil, Ont., and it’s just over an hour’s drive north of Toronto.

What to expect at the holiday market

On Nov. 29, the Gilford Local Eatery will host the Gilford Christmas Market starting at 11 a.m.

This is your opportunity to shop local and find the best gift for that special person in your life. If you’re struggling to find the best gifts or looking for something a little more sentimental, this is a great place to start.

As you browse the selection of unique gifts and handmade creations, enjoy the sounds of live holiday music and carolers.

Be sure to stop by the Jean & Joy Café for some festive drinks and sweet treats from local food vendors.

The day doesn’t end there! Get some photos with Santa Claus from 3:30 to 6 p.m., for the kiddos and kids at heart.

You can even bring home the holiday magic by picking your very own fresh, pre-cut Christmas tree. Courtesy of Lorendale Tree Farm, there will be a selection at the market to choose from, at an additional cost, of course.

Live that Hallmark holiday movie experience and enjoy the joyous season in true small-town style.

“Whether you’re gift shopping, enjoying the music, or just soaking in the Christmas spirit, the Gilford Christmas Market is a celebration you won’t want to miss,” shares organizers. And we agree.

After all, it’s free to attend and totally worth the day trip.
