The village coins itself as giving a “Hallmark” experience in the colder months with snowy lookouts, holiday lights and festive decor lining the downtown strip. First stop, a magical stroll around Clan Gregor Square. Bayfield, Ontario transforms from a small village to a Hallmark movie once Clan Gregor Square is lit up for the season. The park is decorated with thousands of festive lights and light displays from now until February making it a great place for some last-minute holiday photos, a romantic stroll or an evening out with the family.
Main Street truly feels like stepping onto a Christmas movie set. This downtown strip of shops doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to holiday decorations with almost every storefront decked out to look as festive as possible.
Some of the shops you can get some last-minute holiday shopping done at or just some shopping for yourself include: Bayfield Outfitters, Deja Vu, Dynassstyle, Edin Boutique, The Hive, The Village Bookshop and Pink Flamingo Bakery & Boutique. Be sure to check the holiday hours for each store before you head over.
It wouldn’t be a trip to Bayfield without catching a sunset. If the weather allows for it, the area is known for boasting some stunning views as the sun goes down over Lake Huron. Pioneer Park has a lookout spot nestled along a bluff overlooking the lake. According to their website, it “is a favourite destination among residents and visitors seeking tranquillity and relaxation in a natural setting.” Sunset or no sunset, the snowy views and the frozen lake are a breathtaking sight. To get to the lookout, drive to the west end of Main Street then turn left on Colina Street.
