Somehow, in the time of winning 14 Grammy Awards, selling out world arenas, and writing catchy new melodies, Taylor Swift has found the time to develop friendships with her godchildren, AKA Ryan Reynolds’ and Blake Lively’s three daughters.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds reveals just how close the artist is to his family.

In the interview, a sassy headline is read aloud to Reynolds in reference to Swift’s social media story celebrating his recent accomplishments:

“Taylor Swift praises Hugh Jackman in support of Deadpool & Wolverine and playfully ‘trolls’ her godkids’ sperm donor, Ryan Reynolds.”

To that, Reynolds immediately quips, “Wow, I need that one on my gravestone,” confirming that Taylor is indeed “the godparent to [his] daughters.”

“Betty” lyrics

Swift and her godchildren are so close, in fact, that she even named all of the characters in her Folklore song “Betty” after them.

According to E! News, in a 2020 radio clip, the singer shares that she wrote the song from the perspective of a 17-year-old boy who just lost the love of his life, naming all of the characters in the story after “her friends’ kids.”

Fans then made short work of putting two and two together, as James, Betty, and Inez are the names of Reynolds’ and Lively’s daughters.

Whether you’re a fan of her music or not – you gotta hand it to her – Taylor certainly knows how to crush the godmother game!
