Here’s what’s open & closed in Calgary on Remembrance Day this year

From ceremonies to memorials, there will be no shortage of ways to commemorate November 11th, but what if you need to run errands? Whether it be a trip to the grocery store or you need to entertain the kids, here’s what’s open and closed in Calgary on Remembrance Day this year.
Open
Museums
If you’d like to reflect this Monday, there will be no better place to do just that than a museum. From Glenbow’s temporary space at The Edison to the Hangar Flight Museum and the Military Museum, many of Calgary’s best are open and even holding Remembrance Day events on-site.
Movie Theatres
Hoping to catch a flick on Monday? Landmark Cinemas, Cineplex and Calgary’s cheap theatre, Canyon Meadows, will all be open all weekend long.
Malls
Though we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, Southcentre Mall, CrossIron Mills, CF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall and The CORE Shopping Centre will all be open on November 11th.
The Calgary Zoo
Want to do something fun with the kids or your special someone on Monday? The Calgary Zoo will also be open on November 11th.

Grocery and Liquor Stores
Need to grab a few snacks or do some meal prep? You’re in luck. Though, again, we’d recommend checking your local stop hours, most liquor and grocery stores will be open this Friday.
The Calgary Tower
After your chosen ceremony this week, check out the Calgary Tower and grab a bite to eat at Sky 360 where there are views, views, and more views.

Telus Spark

Calgary Transit
While transit will be operational on Monday, November 11th, CTrains, buses and On Demand transport will run on their Saturday schedule.
Studio Bell
This Monday, visit the Studio Bell National Music Centre between 10 am and 5 pm on Monday for a moving service featuring the Central Alberta Chamber Players, world-class bagpiper Bill Hawes, and singer-songwriter Tim Isberg in honour of Remembrance Day.

City-owned Recreational Facilities and Leisure Centres
Want to go for a swim?
Most facilities will be open on Monday, however, the city will be offering free public swimming and skating on November 11th.
Enjoy a dip at the following locations from 1–2:30 pm and 3–4:30 pm.

Closed
Road closures
In order to accommodate Remembrance Day ceremonies the following roads will be closed for a short time:
Field of Crosses – 9 am to 12 pm
- Eastbound & westbound Riverfront Avenue S.E. access to the Centre Street Bridge will be closed from 9 a.m.-noon
- Eastbound Memorial Drive N.W. to northbound Centre Street will be closed from 9 a.m.–noon
- The right-hand lane on westbound Memorial Drive N.W. will be closed between the Centre Street underpass and 3 Street N.W. between 6 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Please watch for increased pedestrian volume in the area.
Calgary Highlanders Remembrance Day parade (Central Memorial Park) – 10 am to 1 pm
- 13 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 2 & 5 Street S.W.
- 12 Avenue S.W. will be closed between 2 & 4 Street S.W.
- 4 Street S.W. will be closed between 12 & 13 Avenue S.W.
26 Avenue SE – Until 1 pm
- 26 Avenue S.E. closed between 11 Street S.E. and Dartmouth Road.
- 11 Street S.E. closed between 23 & 26 Avenue S.E.
Post Offices
Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Friday (and every stat holiday) the post office will be closed.
Costco
While grocery and convenience stores will be open on Friday, Costco will be closed on Monday.
