The ultimate way to get excited about Christmas! The Portage Flyer Christmas Train Ride will transport passengers to a place that’s filled with holiday spirit as they cruise in a festive locomotive. The train leaves the station on December 21st and if you want to be a part of the magic, here’s what you need to know.

Where and when

The Portage Flyer Christmas Train Ride happens in the heart of cottage country, Huntsville, at Muskoka Heritage Place Rotary Village Station.

Gates will open at 4:30 PM on December 21st, 2024 with rides beginning at 5:00 PM, and running until 8:00 PM (the last train leaves the station at 7:30 PM).

If you’re driving in from Toronto you’ll want to leave yourself around 2 and a half hours to get there.

All aboard!

So, what can you expect? According to Mukoka Heritage Place, “The Portage Flyer locomotive and authentic coaches have a thousand lights” as Santa awaits your arrival.

Passengers can enjoy a cup of free hot chocolate and cookies (while supplies last) as they sing along to the carols!

The ride will gently chug alongside the Muskoka River as it makes its way to The Purser’s Cabin.

Reserving tickets ahead of time isn’t available, so if you’re hoping to bring the family be sure to get there early.

Tickets cost $5 per person or free for babies that can be carried. Depending upon weather conditions, be sure to dress appropriately as the coaches are open-air!
