This town’s name may be Tiny but it certainly packs a punch. Tiny, Ontario is a picturesque spot in Simcoe County, an area known for its vast shorelines along Georgian Bay and over 80 km of trails worth exploring.
The hamlets that make up Tiny are all worth exploring so here’s what to know before you go.
Getting there
If you’re driving from Toronto, getting to Tiny, Ontario will take you around two and a half hours.
The town sits along the shores of Georgian Bay. Once you hit Wasaga Beach, keep heading north along the shore and eventually, you will hit Tiny!
According to the town website, “it is the most northerly Township of the County of Simcoe and occupies most of the Penetanguishene peninsula.”
The town
There is no shortage of things to do in Tiny especially when it comes to outdoor adventure.
The area is made up of several hamlets you’ll find yourself winding through while on your drive in including:
- Lafontaine
- Perkinsfield
- Toanche
- Wyevale
- Wyebridge
The town’s coastline runs along Georgian Bay measuring over 70 kilometres. “The southern boundary, about 16 kilometres long, abuts the Township of Springwater and the northern tip of the Town of Wasaga Beach.”
The eastern boundary runs 17 kilometres long and marks the western boundary of the Township of Tay.
If you want to spend the day strolling along the water there is no shortage of beaches. Woodland Beach, Bluewater Beach, Jackson Park and Lafontaine Beach Park are the most popular spots and boast plenty of shoreline to walk along.
Bluewater Beach and Woodland Beach both have boardwalks if need to get out of the sand for a bit.
The main trail in Tiny winds a whopping 80 km.
“Visiting the Trail in Tiny, you’ll be treated to kilometres of pleasantly winding, forested roads, alive with the hush and rustle of the wind in the leaves and branches, the shimmer and scent of the water nearby,” states the trail description.
