A new global list is putting the spotlight on hotels, and a couple of Canadian spots are on it. The Condé Nast Traveler’s “Best Hotels in the World: 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards” was just released, and two Toronto luxury accommodations are among the top 50 – with one in the top 10!

Released annually, the 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards looks at “what makes a quality hotel.”

“In tallying up the 575,048 votes cast in our 37th annual Readers’ Choice Awards survey, we were struck by both your eagerness to embrace the new and your reverence for tried-and-true classics,” they state.

These hotels are all about “Unforgettable food. Cutting-edge design. Immersive experiences.”

Which Toronto hotels are among the best in the world?

The Sutton Place Hotel Toronto

First up, at 50th place, is Toronto’s The Sutton Place Hotel, which they say gives its guests the best of both worlds – value and luxury.

“Within walking distance of Old Toronto, the Entertainment District, and the Fashion District, guests have access to iconic landmarks such as Eaton Center, the Hockey Hall of Fame, and CN Tower, with Wellington Place’s swankiest restaurants in arm’s reach to boot,” states their description.

The Awards added that the hotel feels like “your own personal urban oasis” with its roomy suites and spa-like bathrooms.

The Hazelton Hotel Toronto

And making the top 10 in 9th place is Yorkville’s gem, The Hazelton Hotel. This hotel is no stranger to the Readers’ Choice Awards, as it has been on the list in 2022, 2023, and now, 2024.

But if you’ve been there, you’ll know why.

“For discreet luxury that makes you feel like a member of a private club, few spots top The Hazelton,” says the Condé Nast Traveler.

“The leafy, boutique-lined streets of the upscale Yorkville neighborhood provide the natural backdrop for this plush boutique hotel, which is marked by a brick-and-white façade and rounded entrance. Stroll by the see-and-be-seen outdoor patio (a local favorite) and make your way inside, where you’ll find a contemporary lobby bedecked in polished metals, ostrich leather, and amber lighting.”

It adds that their ample square footage and nine-foot ceilings makes the suites feel like apartments.

Hey, if Hailey Bieber chooses to have her pop-ups there, we are sold.

Which hotel was ranked the best in the world?

This year, the top hotel in the ranking went to The Lodge at Bodega Bay in California.

Snuggled into a bluff in the vineyard-peppered Sonoma coast, as described by Condé Nast, this spot has been on the best hotel lists in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2023, and now 2024.

Happy travels!
