This sub-tropical BC island is known for its gleaming white sand beaches and warm waters

Ready for a staycation to an island paradise right here in British Columbia? Savary Island is known as one of the most beautiful islands in the Salish Sea, with the warmest waters north of Mexico.
Visitors are welcomed with an abundance of gleaming white sand beaches in a sub-tropical environment, surrounded by ancient cliffs and and dunes.
Those wanting to make a weekend trip out of their stay have several on-island accommodations to choose from, including a resort, vacation rentals, B&Bs, and private campsites.
Daytrippers can bike between the island’s many public beaches or explore one of the many forested trails the island has to offer.
Scenic stops to add to your list include South Beach, Duck Bay, Mermaid Beach, and the Malaspina Promenade.

Note that the cliffsides and dunes are sensitive to human disturbance, so refrain from climbing or carving into them.
So whether it’s a beachside picnic, paddle session, or afternoon of swimming that you’re after, you have plenty of pristine, sandy beaches to choose from.
Transportation & info
As space is limited and typically booked well ahead of time, visitors are encouraged to plan ahead when it comes to rentals and cabins.
Note that you’ll also need to book transportation to the island, as water taxis from Lund and Vancouver Island are walk-on only.
Finally, those planning to go fishing during their visit must obtain a BC Saltwater Fishing License.
So there you have it, BC! If you’re craving a mini sub-tropical vacation without leaving the province, this is a fantastic option to consider.
Enjoy your visit, and travel mindfully!
