It’s hard to believe that the second half of summer is well underway, much less that we’ll be entering fall in less than two months. So all the more reason to make the most of the season and plan as many lake days and day trips as you can! The next spot to add to your list? Browning Lake at Murrin Provincial Park.

Situated just ten minutes south of Squamish beside Highway 99, the park is one of Squamish’s most popular, especially for swimmers and climbing enthusiasts.

According to Tourism Squamish, the lake is small but unusually deep for its size, boasting warm, sparkling waters that beckon you in for a summer dip.

The park is a popular destination for families, with plenty of picnic amenities available and a lakeside walking trail encircling Browning Lake to explore. There’s also a sandy beach that’s perfect for lounging at before diving in for a refreshing swim.

Swimmers have multiple private nooks to check out, as well as two beachy shores on the north side of the lake adjacent to the parking lot.

Climbers can brave one of over 250 rock climbing routes ranging from beginner to expert-level, all surrounded by lush forest.

A map of these ‘climbing walls’ is available at the southernmost end of the parking lot, featuring areas like Zoe (sport climbing), Commonwealth (trad climbing), and Petrifying Wall (sport climbing).

So there you have it, lake enthusiasts! You’ve got another beautiful mountain lake to check out in BC before summer’s end. Parking fills up fast, so be sure to leave home early for this one!

Enjoy!
