This Ontario trail winds through forests & offers stunning views of Georgian Bay

One of Ontario’s oldest communities is not only rich in history and culture, but in nature experiences as well. Penetanguishene, Ontario is recognized as having one of the most beautiful harbours but did you know it also has a thrilling outdoor trail with scenic views of a gorgeous bay? Embark on a journey along the Tay shore Trail.
It’ll take you about two hours from Toronto to get to Penetanguishene, a sister city to Midland, Ontario. According to Destination Ontario, the two “are only the beginning of a much bigger, brighter, and adventurous region.”
And adventure is right!

Though the town is full of outdoor experiences, what really stands out is it’s Tay Shore Trail.
This gem is a hike lovers’ dream, running almost 18 km between Waubaushene and Midland.
It features a mix of dense forest trails and some of the best views of Georgian Bay. It’s a multi-use trail that is part of the Trans Canada Trail.
According to the Ontario Trails Council, there are interpretive historical and nature plaques that guide you along the trail. Enjoy the beauty of the surrounding rivers, ponds, wetlands, forests, and field areas that are found along the way.
