If one thing rings true, it’s that very few people were able to escape the effects of cabin fever over the last year. Whether you texted your ex or checked out of Amazon with a cart full of spontaneous purchases, many of us have exhibited unusual behaviour. Perhaps one of the strangest things to come out of quarantine, was the number of people who actually reported seeing things that weren’t there… or were they? According to Breakfast Television, the Alberta RCMP received over 900,000 calls last year, many of which they said were residents reporting an unidentified flying object hovering over their home.

Though we don’t know the exact number, the noticeable influx in calls can’t just be a coincidence, right? So we’re asking you guys, fact or Fiction? While you make up your mind, here are some of the most notable UFO sightings in Canada. The truth is out there!

SHAG HARBOUR, NOVA SCOTIA (1967)

Perhaps the most famous UFO sighting in Canadian history was in the community of Shag Harbour, a small fishing village in Nova Scotia. Apparently, around midnight, the RCMP received several phone calls from people who reported seeing something fall from the sky in a yellow flash and crash into the harbour. Many officers also saw the incident, but when they searched the next morning, nothing was found.

PRINCE GEORGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA (1969)

On the evening of July 1s, 1969, three separate phone calls were made to the police in Prince George, British Columbia. According to the callers, a giant glowing sphere fell several thousand feet but did not hit the ground. Again, nothing was found and there was no further evidence that anything had been there.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC (1990)

In November of 1990, an undocumented number of people reported seeing a massive metallic object with flashing lights hover over the pool on the rooftop of the Bonaventure Hotel in Montreal. Allegedly, it actually stayed there for several hours between 7 and 10 pm before flying off.

CLARENVILLE, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR (1978)

In October of 1978, constable James Blackwood of the RCMP responded to a call from a resident who reported seeing a UFO stagnant in the sky. Despite several other onlookers at the scene, no one, including Blackwood could explain what they were seeing. This incident was actually reported to the Department of National Defense who said it was just Jupiter casting a shadow, but those who were there that night disagree.

HARBOUR MILLE, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR (2010)

On January 25th, 2010, multiple people reported seeing bright lights and a strange object in the sky. At first, the police said that it was only a missile launch – but this statement was actually taken back, with the Prime Minister’s office saying that it was no such thing.

So, there you have it. 5 of Canada’s most notable UFO sightings in Canada. Have you made up your mind yet? Do you believe that we’ve been visited by the 4th kind?
