Real talk: therapy is the new norm.
Everyone’s doing it! Well, almost everyone. After all, you have a physician to take care of your body, so why not have a professional to help take care of your mind? Not to mention, staying on top of your mental health can help prevent any serious breakdowns down the road.
If you’re considering giving therapy a try, why not check out Road To Hana?
Road to Hana is a Vancouver wellness centre founded on the pillars of hospitality and inclusivity. All of its staff are either allies to, or are part of the LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC communities, and they’re all feminists. The result is a sanctuary of healing and hope meant to provide a more accessible — and enjoyable — means of therapy.
And here’s a bonus: use promo code SUNSHINE to receive 50% off your first 2 sessions! Just enter it on the intake form when booking.
Here’s what you can expect from an appointment at Road To Hana.
Booking Your Appointment

First things first, you’ll need to book that appointment. You have the option to book through Jane, an online booking tool that allows users to view which practitioners and services are available on what days and times. If you’ve got a jam-packed schedule, it’s super helpful to see the calendar and be able to book at your own pace.
While you’re welcome to give Road To Hana a call, the team knows that phone conversations can be anxiety-inducing, which is why you have the option to pop them a text. Over 50% of clients prefer texting in their questions to calling, so you certainly aren’t alone there!
Check-in With The Concierge
Yes, concierge. You’ll be amazed at how Road To Hana feels more like a spa and less like a doctor’s or dentist’s office. It’ll feel like checking into The Beverly Hills Hotel, or perhaps a first-class flight on Pan Am.
Some clients have had traumatic medical experiences, and may even be discussing those experiences with their Road To Hana therapist. The design of the concierge check-in area is not only aesthetically pleasing but also helps prevent these clients from reliving those traumas when they check into therapy.
Relaxation Lounge

Arriving early has never been so appealing. You’re welcome to wait for your appointment in the relaxation lounge, where you can enjoy a hot towel service, a selection of beverages served in Le Creuset cups, and snack on biscotti or macarons. The lounge is scented by Acqua Di Parma, a citrus aroma that will transport you to an orange grove on the Amalfi Coast.
After a few minutes here, you might begin to hope the appointment in front of yours runs late.
Your Session Begins
Your Road to Hana counsellor will welcome you into your session, and that’s where the real work begins, but this team makes it as easy as possible. You’re welcome to bring your dog along with you, and there are private clinic after-hours appointments available for public figures who require an extra bit of security.
And did you know that Road To Hana also offers physical health services? On top of therapy, you can book a head-to-toe assessment, hormone testing, stress testing, GI Mapping, SIBO testing, or a hair mineral analysis. They value an integrated approach to wellness – sometimes to feel mentally healthy, you need to address physical health and visa versa
Check Out
When all is said and done, there’s still the matter of payment. Road to Hana accepts insurance, but knowing that isn’t an option for everyone, they also have intern counselling — AKA counsellors in training — at half the price of a standard counsellor, along with an in-house pro-bono program where you can receive free counselling. Additionally, first responders receive a 20% discount.
But there’s no need to leave quite yet! You’re more than welcome to stick around and decompress for a bit. Have another lavender cappuccino. No one is judging.
Road To Hana does therapy a little differently, with pre-appointment pampering, a mid-century modern interior design, and staff that can meet your needs with empathy and grace. If that sounds like your cup of tea (with a side of biscotti) then check out the Road to Hana Vancouver website to see the full range of services, and book your treatment today.
