And, with the rain hopefully taking a breather, it also means ample opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors! So, whether you’re looking for fun at home or while out and about, we’ve got you covered.
Here are 10 socially distant things to do in Vancouver this weekend.
Hear some virtual Music on Main
This long-running celebration of local music has gone virtual! Over the next few days, you’ll be able to enjoy 10 different concerts from some amazing local talent. In addition to the online performances, there will be artist talks and other learning opportunities. The best part? It’s by donation!

Check out an interesting beer sample shop
Granville Island Brewing has gone all out on the release of their latest beer- a super summery peach sour. In addition to hosting a sample shop (where a donation to the Vancouver Food Bank gets you a beer), they’ve also partnered with Lee’s Donuts for an accompanying peach donut!

Visit a new immersive exhibition
The Firehall Arts Centre is back with a legitimate, in-person experience! They’re hosting the world premiere of yellow objects, a new project from playwright Derek Chan. Consisting of objects, voice recordings and projections, the exhibition presents two looks at Hong Kong- the city in 2019, and what the city may look like in 2050.

Treat yourself to dinner
Feel like celebrating spring with a delicious meal? We’re in the same boat, which is why we rounded up some of our absolute favourite spots to get pasta in Vancouver this week. Let’s face it, no matter the temperature, time of day, or season, pasta has the unique ability to hit the spot.

Watch some documentaries in a drive-in setting
Huge shoutout to DOXA Documentary Film Fest for embracing the drive-in set up this year. In addition to the main, 11-day long festival, there will also be screenings of some of the most notable submissions at the PNE Amphitheatre. We love the contrast between a classic movie-watching experience and some contemporary, eye-opening documentaries, so we’re really excited to check this one out.

Head to a Farmers’ Market
We don’t blame you if your farmers’ markets visits dropped in frequency over the winter. But, we do hope that with spring your passion for supporting local growers and artisans has returned! After all, you just can’t beat a big old bag of produce from an early morning trip to the market. Heck, it’s practically a rite of passage in the city.

Look at Silent Witness: Photographs of Shipwrecks
Shipwrecks can definitely be a little spooky but photographer Stefano Benazzo’s work shows the beauty of these now-defunct objects. You’ll get to see how the abandoned ships merge with their natural environment in 60 stunning photos. Plus it’s a good excuse to check out the Vancouver Maritime Museum if you haven’t done that in a while.
