With the weather get better each week, we feel like we need to let our readers know that not only can you buy alcohol at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, but you can drink it while you’re checking out the exhibits! The zoo officially started offering beers last winter, however, it’s really the summer when you should be taking advantage of the opportunity.

Basically Prairie Catering, who runs the food and drink outposts in the zoo, worked closely with the AGLC to get approval. Now, anywhere you can drink or eat at the zoo, you can also consume an alcoholic beverage like beer or wine. Of course, it’ll need to be purchased at the zoo, but that’s kind of a no-brainer policy anyway.

You’ll be able to indulge in a couple of local brands while you’re there- Sea Change Brewing Co. and Blindman Brewing are both on the menu. Feel like switching things up a bit? Broken Spoke Cider is also available, for that extra-summery taste.

And although approval was officially given last year, the zoo is hoping that the added offerings will help it become a date night spot this spring and summer. Well, we don’t know about you folks, but we’re definitely putting it on our to-do list.
