Nothing like Groundhog Day to remind us that spring is indeed along the horizon. And with it comes flowers blossoming, and spring festivities. One of those is the Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival, which is coming back this April.

The festival happens each year at Seattle Center, to celebrate the cherry blossoms as well as Japanese culture.

The festival takes place on April 12h to 14th, which is near the peak blooming season for the cherry blossoms.

Besides seeing the blooms, attendees can expect a vibrant and colorful celebration that features a range of activities and performances that showcase Japanese art, culture, and traditions.

“The festival deepens the understanding and serves as a vehicle for sharing Japanese and Japanese American culture and heritage through hundreds of performing and martial arts, exhibits and demonstrations, hands-on children’s activities, culinary treats, and more,” states the organizers.

A list of this year’s activities is yet to be shared, but some of last year’s include Japanese tea ceremonies, traditional Japanese music performances, martial arts demonstrations, and Ikebana flower arrangement workshops.

For those interested in Japanese cuisine, there are generally numerous food vendors offering authentic Japanese dishes.

Best of all, the festival is free to attend.
