Washington has many unique places, one of the most notable is, of course, Leavenworth. Known for its Bavarian vibes, Post Hotel, Christmas lights, horse-drawn sleigh rides and so much more. All of these factors and its year-round charm have earned the town a well-deserved spot among America’s favorite small towns.

Family Destinations Guide surveyed 3,000 families to find the top 150 small towns across the country that they’d love to spend time in this year.

The top ten is as follows and you might just find a few surprising places in there:

  2. Ely, Nevada
  3. Anna Maria Island, Florida
  4. Old Koloa Town, Hawaii
  5. West Yellowstone, Montana
  6. Gatlinburg, Tennesse

As you probably noticed, Leavenworth isn’t in the top ten, for now. The town ranked 44th place overall and was noted for being a great family vacation destination spot due to “its stunning natural beauty, outdoor activities, and unique Bavarian-style village.”

As spring and summer roll around, it’s a great base camp for any sort of hiking or backpacking trip that you have planned in the Cascade Mountains. You can also enjoy biking, rafting, and of course skiing when there’s snow. For those who want to kick back and relax, you can also enjoy shopping, dining, and even a spa trip or two.

Other Washington towns ranked include Sequim in 70th place and Coupeville in 147th place.

Looks like Washington has some work to do but in the meantime, it means we just get to enjoy these places with fewer people.
