Canada’s first-ever Snowboard FIS World Cup ‘Stadium’ big air competition is coming to Edmonton on December 10— The Style Experience. Decreed the ultimate snowboarding big air event of the season, the competition is part of Shred the North Series of World Cups in 2022/23. And Edmonton happens to be the first North American stop on the map.

Now, if you’re thinking of it as yet another snowboarding event, you’d be much mistaken. The Style Experience isn’t just a competition but an entertainment-loaded snowboarding festival. And we’ve got all the deets of this “brag-able experience” (as they put it).

The Spectacular Sport

Snowboarding big air is a thrilling sport. For the uninitiated, it is a style of snowboarding where riders launch off of a jump. While in the air, they spin, flip, grab their boards and do a lot of other exciting tricks to score. They then finish off with a smooth landing. And The Style Experience is bringing style back to the heart of this spectacular sport by rewarding the most stylish tricks.

The Star Riders

The event boasts an impressive line-up of Canadian and international riders. You can expect an interesting mix of Canadian riders from seasoned veterans to up-and-coming talent. This includes renowned riders such as Mark McMorris. Arguably the best competitive snowboarder on the planet and three-time Olympic bronze medallist!

Up next, reigning Olympic champion in slopestyle Max Parrot, coming back from Beijing where he scored Gold in Slopestyle and Bronze in Big Air. Laurie Blouin, Big Air winner at X Games and on the World Cup circuit, will be performing some exciting tricks, alongside talent like Nic Laframboise, Jasmine Baird, Francis Jobin, and the list goes on!

And if you’re on the lookout for the newest wave of Canadian riders, then watch out for Finn Finestone, Juliette Pelchat, Jacob Legault, Sam Koven, Mathis Lamoreux, Eli Bouchard, Émeraud Maheux, Truth Smith, and Cameron Spalding.

Clearly, this is when we witness some stunning tricks on this beautiful beast of a jump.

The Upgraded Venue

For an event this size, it obviously needed a colossal venue. Hence, the Commonwealth Stadium. But if you haven’t been there in a while, you are in for a “big” surprise. There now stands the world’s largest Big Air scaffolding jump carefully crafted by master park designer Charles Beckinsale.

But that’s not all! The venue has a lot more to offer to truly make this an incredible experience. There is also a top-notch sound system, that accompanied by visual lights and a projection show, will double up on the excitement.

The Epic Extras

This is going to be one giant party— Red Bull certified DJs, a dance floor, food and bevies and a lot of other activations. The dance floor is where you can get close to the action and the riders. There will also be a Vendor Village where you can check out the latest sporting goods and win prizes. Best of all— there’ll be a snow sliding hill where can get a taste of what it feels like to glide down from the stands of the stadium. Plus, you can earn some Insta cred with those sweet shots.

The VIP Experience

To make sure that you take in all this action from the best of seats, The Style Experience is offering three different VIP seats. There’s a Rooftop Patio with unreal views of the stylish stunts. Of course, this comes with heated indoor seating but far be it for us to be scared of a little cold. Then there is a concourse seat which incidentally is selling like hotcakes. And finally, there are the Field Level VIP tickets. This is the VIP-only area at the base of the jump.

If you haven’t already gathered that, this one-of-a-kind event is not something you want to miss. You can get your hands on the tickets via the Explore Edmonton website below.
