Calgary has no shortage of incredible bars, cafes and fine-dining must-visits, many of which just opened their doors to the public. In fact, two of them are so good, they recently made a pretty prestigious list of Canada’s best new restaurants!

Selected by award-winning journalist Nancy Matsumoto and published in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine, 30 eateries were enjoyed and ranked over the course of a month.

“Air Canada is proud to take off with this tradition once again and to put the Top 10 best new restaurants on Canada’s culinary map,” said Andy Shibata, Vice President of Air Canada in a press release.

“It’s inspiring to see these restaurants make their mark with world-class cuisine while also leading the way on industry trends such as sustainability and workplace wellness. We wish them all luck and success.”

Having taken everything from culinary vision to the quality of ingredients used, into consideration – the following made her list for 2022.

  1.  Restaurant 20 Victoria (Toronto, ON)
  2. Mastard (Montreal, QC)
  3. MIMI Chinese (Toronto, ON)
  4. Perch (Ottawa, ON):
  5. Một Tô (Calgary, AB)
  6. Hearts Tavern & Bar (Kimberley, ON):
  7. Fonda Balam (Toronto, ON):
  8. Major Tom (Calgary, AB)
  9. Fox & Monocle (North Saanich, BC)
  10. Restaurant Alentours (Quebec City, QC)

Revered for its crackly crab pork and taro spring rolls, Một Tô was named 5th on the list, followed by Major Tom – who placed 8th overall, but first when it came to good sips.

“40 floors above Calgary find a steakhouse reimagined for the modern age, delivering crispy egg halves topped with pepperoni jam, extra-terrestrial prime rib, alongside cocktails like All the Way Up—Matsumoto’s pick for best cocktail of the year,” they wrote, but we want to know what you think!
