Now that spring is officially here it makes it so much easier to get out and enjoy our beautiful city! And no one knows our city better than Morrison Homes so naturally, they’re the experts when it comes to the sights and scenes in Calgary. And no one knows homes better than Morrison Homes so in celebration of their 60th anniversary, they are offering tons of amazing promotions, including $1961 in home upgrade credits. Spring is the best time to get yourself in a new home just like it’s the best time to be a tourist right here in YYC! Let’s have a look, shall we?
RENT A PEDAL PUB WITH YOUR BUBBLE
It’s never too early to get your pub crawl on and Pedal Pub is one of our favourite ways to get this done! Book a party bike for up to 12 of your closest friends and tour the Brewery Flats or Beltline East areas stopping at local establishments along the way. Cheers to this one, friends!
CHECK OUT ALL THERE IS TO DO AT THE SASKATOON FARM
There is so much to do here we’re not sure where to start. Grab some delicious food from their Mexican fusion restaurant or a sweet and scrumptious treat at the bakery. Shop the boutique shop which features goods from local businesses and get ready for their seasonal markets that are coming up soon! And don’t forget to say hi to their 5 adorable tortoises, Felix, Molly, Mable, Tom, and Turbo!
Where: 80181 338 Ave E #20, Foothills County
STROLL AROUND READER ROCK GARDEN
The Reader Rock Garden is a local gem and one of our favourite hidden spots in Calgary. Climb the cobblestone staircases or grab a bite at the beautifully-restored Reader’s Cafe which used to be William Roland Reader’s home. Then look, but don’t touch the thousands of flowers and exotic looking plants collected from all over the world during Reader’s lifetime.
Where: 325 25 Ave SE, Calgary
BRING THE FAMILY ALONG FOR A ROOFTOP PATIO BEER
Who doesn’t love a rooftop patio? The answer is no one. Even the kids will love soaking up the rays while you enjoy a tasty brew. We are very lucky to have many rooftop patios to choose from, and the following are all kid friendly (until a certain time of course) National on 10th, Brewsters McKenzie Towne and Original Joe’s Deerfoot City.
PLAN A DAY AT ST. PATRICK’S ISLAND
We all know and love Prince’s Island Park but its newer younger brother St. Patrick’s Island is quickly becoming one of our go-to favourite parks in the city. Take in views of downtown from the nine-meter high grassy knoll or wade in the shallows of the Bow River in the restored channel.
Where: 1300 Zoo Rd. NE
PERUSE AROUND THE DEVONIAN GARDENS
View this post on Instagram
Hidden on the top floor of the CORE Shopping centre, there’s a tropical oasis. One minute you’re in a mall food court, and the next you’re in the rainforest. The Devonian Gardens are absolutely beautiful year-round. The fountains and vine-covered walls make for an incredible photo-op or a comfortable place to get some work done
GET FIT OUTDOORS
With plus temperatures, and do we dare say double digits, blessing our city, it would be a sin to not take advantage of this March weather! It’s pretty much unheard of so make the most of it and shape up for summer while you’re at it. Did you know that Calgary boasts an impressive 22 parks with outdoor gym equipment spanning across the city? No gym membership required here!
GET YOUR LAST DOSE OF TUBING IN
The upcoming weeks are likely the last chances you will have to glide down the hill at Winport’s Tube Park. Get your adrenaline going while you race down one of their 8 hills. Just make sure to check their conditions page before you go of course!
So there you have it, some incredibly fun ways to spend a few days not venturing too far from home. We have to thank our friends over at Morrison Homes for helping us come up with these great ideas. Don’t forget to check out all their promotions and register for their 60th anniversary $1961 upgrade credit. And to be honest, if you’ve been thinking about a new home now is the time to get a move on! Think about the luxury home you could design for a fraction of the cost!
