6 vegan-friendly restaurants you need to check out this summer

Alright Calgary, with restaurant dining back open, it’s time to get serious about where we’re grabbin’ our next bite. ‘Cause after the hiatus we had, settling for just anything isn’t going to cut it.

So we’ve teamed up with Flora, a plant-based alternative to butter, to bring you a list of six vegan-friendly restaurants in Calgary to add to your summer dining bucket list. ‘Cause let’s face it, nothing says summer dining like some fresh, delicious dishes.

Let’s get to it!

THE DANDELION

This quick-serve bistro focuses on good food, good drinks and fresh, wild foraged plant-based ingredients. Plus, they’ve got tons of patio seating – from a rustic courtyard, to garden picnic tables and more!

Where: 1048 8 St SE

THE COUP

It’s impossible to think of vegan restaurants in YYC without thinking of The Coup, and for good reason. Not only do they serve up a mean dish and unreal cocktails, but they’ve got a great vibe to go with it.

Where: 924 17 Ave SW

VEGAN STREET

With their OG Beltline location servin’ up some mean comfort foods like mac and cheeze, chickin bites and no-fish & chips, to their newest spot in Inglewood focusing on fresh latin-fusion cuisine and cocktails… Vegan Street is a must-try. Plus, their Inglewood location has a 150-person patio!

Where: 1111 7 St SW

V BURGER

Anyone who knows us, knows we’re huge fans of V Burger. Why? ‘Cause we freaking love burgers and dessert. V Burger’s entire menu is plant-based, and is a must try for meat eaters and plant eaters alike.

Where: 819 17 Ave SW

TAMARIND VIETNAMESE GRILL AND NOODLE HOUSE

Pho lovers, rejoice! Tamarind is an entirely vegan Vietnamese restaurant here in YYC, with a long menu of incredible dishes. We’re talkin pho, curry, pad thai and more. A meal from here is sure to hit the spot!

Where: 908 12 Ave SW

MONDAYS PLANT CAFE

Monday’s aren’t so great, unless we’re talking about Monday’s Plant Cafe. This newly opened cafe in Bridgeland serves everything from raw tacos, to avo toast, raw lasagne, and peanut butter brownies.

Where: 208 4 St NE

CANELA

Looking to satisfy your sweet tooth? CANELA is a great spot to do it. Their menu includes baked goods like vegan churros and deliciously-frosted cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches, lattes, and more. Grab one of our personal faves, a poptart, and thank us later.

Where: 4806 1 St SW

There you have it, team! Six delicious vegan spots to check out this summer.

Wondering what you’ll be dishin’ up at home between your restaurant visits? Hit up our friends at Flora, to shop their sustainable plant-based alternatives to butter, and check out tons of recipes posted on their website here!
