5 reasons you’ll never want to leave Niagara this winter

Winter in Ontario is nothing short of spectacular, with snow covered streets, crisp air, and the promise of twinkly lights everywhere. But what if we told you there’s a place nearby where winter takes on a whole new level of magic? If we do, there’s a chance you’d go and never want to leave.

But Niagara is just too good not to share! Especially because it’s so easy for us Torontonians to get to, thanks to Go Transit. Here are some of the most memorable experiences you won’t want to miss when you visit Niagara this winter.

Winter Festival of Lights

Starting November 18th, and running all the way to January 7th, the festival brings over 3 million lights and 75+ spectacular displays — transforming Niagara into a dreamy, winter wonderland. Explore the lights by foot, car or from the comfort of your hotel room overlooking the displays. If you’re walking, don’t forget to check out the Hot Chocolate Trail for a quick warm up!

Niagara Ice Wine Festival

The weather outside might be frightful, but it’s nothing a glass of sweet ice wine can’t fix. Explore the different flavours of this chilly beverage at the Cold as Ice Gala on January 13th. Or, pair your wines with local dishes with the festival’s Discovery Pass — available January 12-14, 19-21, and 26-28.

New Year’s Eve in Niagara

Ring in 2024 surrounded by Niagara’s glowing falls, twinkly lights and live music at Canada’s most iconic New Year’s Eve destination. End your evening with a brilliant fireworks show set above the illuminated falls and neighbouring Queen Victoria Park.

Family Friendly Fun

Stay warm inside while exploring the Bird Kingdom or Butterfly Conservatory or if you’re feeling adventurous, venture to new heights while atop the Niagara Skywheel. Mystery more your style? Try one of Niagara’s challenging escape rooms. With lights, entertainment and winter attractions running until Family Day long weekend, there’s no shortage of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Sunday Brunch at Queenston Heights

What’s cozier than a Sunday brunch accompanied by your favourite seasonal beverage? Nestled on a perch overlooking the Niagara River, Queenston Heights is home to an award winning brunch menu that includes all of the classics. Belgian waffles, anyone?
