Edmonton’s premier haunted house experience is coming back with some all-new scares

Deadmonton is one of Edmonton’s best haunted house experiences, and it’s back for the 13th year of its premier spooky, scary event.

If you aren’t familiar, Deadmonton is easily one of the creepiest, scariest, and most exciting haunted houses in Edmonton during Halloween season. With three new haunts ready for your arrival, you’re going to have your socks absolutely knocked off. Invite some friends, grab your coat, and get ready for the thrill of a lifetime.

What to know before heading to Deadmonton

When is Deadmonton, and where does it take place?

For 2026, the event will be taking place from Friday, Sept. 25, to Saturday, Nov. 7, at varying times based on the day. It’ll once again be taking over the iconic Edmonton Sun building.

What’s the best way to get there?

This year, park and ride will be available! You’ll be able to park in the lot at 9530 49th St. NW and take a shuttle to Deadmonton. The shuttle times are posted on the event’s website and vary based on the date.

Is there parking?

Aside from park-and-ride parking, there is additional street parking as well as spots available in the lot to the North of the Deadmonton Building.

What are the haunted house themes this year?

There are three all-new haunts this year, including:

• The Graveyard
  • “The smell is beginning to drive some of us mad. I am starting to believe there is more to this island than what was previously sold to us; it seems the Isle of Deadmonton was never truly abandoned, but rather repossessed,” describes the website.
• The House
  • “Shortly after docking, we were met by an old man claiming to be the butler to the Asylum’s medical director. He has invited us to dinner at his home, but his demeanor has left me feeling unsettled, as if he is not truly in control. The house itself fills me with a deep sense of unease,” reads this description.
• The Asylum
  • “For decades, it has been rumored that the B-Healthy Corporation operated a high-security asylum in an unknown location. Given what we have observed, I am beginning to wonder if this could be the facility,” teases Deadmonton.
    

Each haunted house will take between 10 and 25 minutes to walk through in groups of six. Two of these will be open upon arrival, while the semi-outdoor house will open at dusk.

What is the Lights Out event?

For this special event, all the lights will be turned off, and you’ll be left to explore the haunted houses with only a small lighting device leading the way. If you’re looking for the maximum amount of thrills and scares, this is definitely going to pique your interest.

Will there be food and drinks available?

Yes, there will be both food and drinks available on-site at Deadmonton, and this includes non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. If you want to check out the full menu, you can visit the event’s website for all the details.

What isn’t allowed at Deadmonton?

According to Deadmonton, there are a few things prohibited at the event. This includes high heels, costumes, masks, and props. Visitors are also not allowed to touch the actors or take photos or videos within the haunted houses themselves.

How much are tickets?

Tickets are already available online for purchase, but pricing varies a lot depending on what you’re looking for.

For opening weekend (Sept. 24 and 25), pricing starts at $36.99 for general admission and $56.99 for admission with the speed pass included. General admission on regular days (no events) will be between $49.99 and $54.99, while speed pass pricing will be between $69.99 and $74.99.

These tickets will have specific entry times, meaning you will only be able to enter when your ticket dictates.

If you want the freedom to enter whenever, any day, any time, tickets are $99.99 for general admission and $124.99 for speed pass included.

All these prices are online-only. Walk-up tickets will increase in price and are subject to availability.
