Think you have what it takes to solve a murder? You can put your skills to the test at these murder mystery events happening around Calgary this month. You’ll be given a case to investigate, clues to piece together, and suspects to watch as you try to work out what happened. Some will have you sitting down for dinner, while others will take you outside to investigate the case as you go.
To help make things easier, we’ve rounded up five murder mysteries worth checking out around the city this October.
The Dinner Detective
Keep your eyes peeled because the killer could be sitting right beside you. The Dinner Detective at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown features undercover actors mingling with guests all night, so you’ll never know who might be part of the mystery.
A full-plated dinner will be served as the story unfolds, and a prize will be up for grabs for whoever comes closest to solving the crime.
When: Saturday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026

Hallowe’en Horror: At Night at the Grimmies (18+)
The Grimmy Awards are supposed to celebrate the best in horror, but things go off the rails when a murder interrupts the festivities. You can enjoy a buffet-style dinner while the bizarre cast of characters deals with the fallout.
The 18+ event will take place at Spruce Meadows British Tea House on select evenings throughout the month. Doors will open ahead of the show for a cocktail hour, and the mystery will begin at 7 p.m.

Halloween Murder Mystery at The Lougheed House
Calgary’s oldest mansion is hosting an interactive murder mystery centred around a town hall meeting that takes a deadly turn. Throughout the evening, you’ll enjoy a meal while trying to figure out who is behind the crime.
The experience will take place at the Lougheed House on Oct. 24, with tickets priced at $130 per person.

Death Checks In
It’s 1910, the Alberta Central Railway is under construction, and you’ve found yourself at the Lucky Guest Hotel with five strangers, each with something to gain. When one unfortunate person doesn’t make it through the night, you’ll have to piece together what happened.
Your ticket will include a three-course plant-based dinner, with cocktails, wine, and beer available for purchase throughout the evening.

Murder Mystery at Pearce Estate Park
Grab your friends and head to Pearce Estate Park for an outdoor murder mystery where you’ll examine evidence and gather clues as you work together to uncover the killer.
This event requires a phone with mobile data, so make sure it’s fully charged beforehand.
