Ah, another weekend has come and gone… we’d almost be angry, if we didn’t have a full week of fun to look forward to in Vancouver! Our goal this week? To have enough to do that we don’t even notice the rain. It’s a high hope, but we’re ready to try and realize it.

Here are the best things to do in Vancouver this week.

Lumiere

We’ve got a few free options for you to check out! Lumiere is back for its 6th season, and has expanded to Granville Island and the Bentall Centre in addition to the Jim Deva Plaza and English Bay. It’s the perfect way to walk off a dinner downtown Vancouver, in our opinion.

When: Starts Friday, November 12th
Where: Locations around Vancouver
Cost: Free!

Eastside Culture Crawl

This iconic art festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month! Naturally, the participants are pulling out all the stops, offering virtual events, gallery tours, workshops and more. It’s as simple as this- if you like art, you’ll like the Eastside Culture Crawl.

When: Events throughout November
Where: Locations around Vancouver
Cost: Free!

Polygon Gallery

For our final art pick this week, we’ve got the Polygon Gallery. It’s currently showing a small exhibition on Vancouver’s punk subculture, so you’re guaranteed to see some interesting pictures during your visit. Plus, who doesn’t love a rainy SeaBus ride over there?

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 101 Carrie Cates Court, North Vancouver
Cost: By donation

Reflections: The Winter Terrace

It’s been a while since this iconic outdoor dining spot in Vancouver has opened for the winter. But guess what? It’s coming back this week. Check it out for a late lunch with some friends, before everyone gets wind of it and it’s booked weeks in advance.

When: Opens Tuesday, November 9th
Where: 801 W Georgia Street

Circle Craft Christmas Market

What’s November without a little bit of early Christmas shopping? The super-popular Circle Craft market launches this week, which will feature hundreds of artisans and craft makers from coast to coast. Perfect if you’re looking for a unique item that can be used every day.

When: Starts Wednesday, November 10th
Where: 1055 Canada Place
Cost: $15 for admission

Vancouver Canucks

Ah, how nice is it to have live sports back! The Canucks face off against the Nashville Predators this week for a Tuesday night game. Know what that means? Cheap tickets all over the place!

When: Tuesday, November 9th
Where: 800 Griffiths Way
Cost: $32+

BC Lions

For those looking for an outdoor(ish) experience, there’s also a BC Lions game to look forward to! They’ll be facing off against the Stampeders during their penultimate game of the season.

When: Friday, November 12th
Where: 777 Pacific Boulevard
Cost: $21.75+

City and Colour

We will never get over the fact that City and Colour was preceded by Alexisonfire, but we still love what Dallas Green is putting out. Go relax at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre with some calm tunes, and enjoy his beautiful voice up close and personal!

When: Friday, November 12th
Where: 630 Hamilton Street
Cost: $100+

Vancouver Asian Film Festival

Whether you checked out VIFF and are craving more or have been looking forward to this for a while, the Vancouver Asian Film Festival is an easy yes from us. After all, there’s a whole lot more to check out from Asian filmmakers than Parasite and Squid Game.

When: On throughout the week
Where: Virtual
Cost: Varies per event (Free+)

Poppy Barley Pop-Up

Sustainable Canadian brand Poppy Barley is hosting an in-person popup shop at Flax Home’s new Vancouver showroom. The pop-up will feature leather shoes, as well as leather and plant-based accessories and giftables. You can spend the afternoon browsing, trying things on, and picking up some new staples for your winter wardrobe.

When: Starts Thursday, November 11th
Where: Flax Home Showroom, 858 E Hastings Street, Vancouver

That’s what we have in mind for this week, Vancouver! Get out there and make the most of it.
