10 of the best things to do in Edmonton this week (May 23-27)

Happy Monday, Edmonton! We hope you enjoyed the long weekend, and are ready to have some fun around the city this week. We might have a little rain, but the weather continues to heat up, so we couldn’t be happier.

Here are the 10 best things to do in Edmonton this week.

WATCH THE BATTLE OF ALBERTA

This Battle of Alberta playoff series has got us fired up! Whether or not you can actually score tickets to the games, we’ve got quite a few places to watch them with some pals, including Rogers Place itself.

When: Tuesday, May 24th and hopefully Thursday, May 26th
Where: Click the link above for our picks

THE CITADEL THEATRE

This is the last week to check out “9 to 5: The Musical”. A show based entirely on the music of Dolly Parton? Yeah, this is a great pick if you’re looking for a little bit of culture.

When: Shows throughout the week
Where: 9828 101 A Avenue
Cost: Varies

HENRY ROLLINS

Speaking of shows at The Citadel, punk legend Henry Rollins is performing there this week. Don’t expect a mosh pit, instead, he’ll being do a spoken word thing. Still a very fun, and unique, option this week.

When: Wednesday, May 25th
Where: 9828 101 A Avenue
Cost: $45.25

FORT EDMONTON PARK

The already iconic destination got a major renovation last year, and this is its first full season back! Family-friendly options that double as date ideas are few and far between, but we definitely think Fort Edmonton Park is a great example of it.

When: Open Wednesday to Sunday
Where: 7000 143 Street NW
Tickets: $26.20 for GA

URBAN PEDAL TOURS

For something a little less family-friendly, it might be time to go on a boozy bike tour! Urban Pedal Tours will allow you to experience some of the city’s best breweries, bars and more in a whole new way, and is a supremely fun choice for a birthday party or friends day out.

When: Tours throughout the week
Where: Locations around Edmonton
Cost: $549 for a 2-hour tour

STREET CAR CASK PARTY

In the same vein, The Common’s Street Car Cask Parties are back! Enjoy some unique brews, eat some treats, then return to The Common itself for a little live music!

When: Thursdays, May 26th
Where: 10910 100 Avenue NW
Cost: $53.50+

THE MAGICAL MUSIC OF HARRY POTTER

On the other hand, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra is about to kick off a full series of concerts showcasing the music of Harry Potter. We’ll admit that it’s one of the few soundtracks we’d actually want to hear live.

When: Friday, May 27th
Where: 4 Sir Winston Churchill Square NW
Cost: $32+

EDMONTON VALLEY ZOO

In addition to the regular exhibits, a super cool Lego one has landed at the zoo! Head down there to see some incredible Lego sculptures, which of course are focused on plants and animals.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 13315 Buena Vista Road
Cost: $15.95 for GA

ELK ISLAND NATIONAL PARK

On another note, Elk Island National Park is a wonderland any time of year. Enjoy some hiking and exploring during the day, then kick back for some stargazing afterwards before you head home.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 54401 Range Road 203, Fort Saskatchewan
Cost: $7.90 for admissions
