Welcome to the start of a new week, Edmonton. And, more importantly, the last few days of August. While September is just around the corner, we’re not going to let that rain on our parade. Nor will we let actual rain get us down. After all, we’ve still got a little bit of summer left!

Here are 10 of the best things to do this week in and around Edmonton.

DIVE INTO LE BURGER WEEK

That’s right folks, Le Burger Week is back. This nationwide festival has quite a few Edmonton spots hopping in, and they’re offering a full range of mouthwatering burgers to try. Treat yourself for dinner this week and see which one strikes your fancy!

ENJOY A SYMPHONY UNDER THE STARS

Ready to get outside this week, no matter what? Well, the Symphony Under the Stars series is sure to be worth the effort. This ongoing concert series takes place in Hawrelak Park, where you’ll get to hear the amazing Edmonton Symphony Orchestra live.

BE AMAZED AT A NIGHT CIRCUS

For an amazing indoor event, be sure to check out Cirque De La Lune, taking place at the Starlite Room. This adults-only evening promises ‘revelry, song, dance and entertainment’. With some tasty snacks and drinks to enjoy while it goes down, of course.

When: Friday, September 3rd
Where: 10030 102 Street Northwest

LISTEN TO LIVE MUSIC

If Mother Nature holds off, this could be a great impromptu option one night this week. The Downtown Live concert series has been a great way to uncover our city’s local talent, and this week is no exception! There are two different concerts going down this week, and both are worth checking out!

When: Wednesday, September 1st
Where: Click the link above for more info
Cost: Free to attend

ROYAL ALBERTA MUSEUM

Back to some great rainy day options, and the Royal Alberta Museum is a top choice in the city. Whether you’re rediscovering the permanent collections or seeing what’s new, the Royal Alberta Museum is a perfect way to spend a few hours inside.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 9810 103a Avenue NW

ART GALLERY OF ALBERTA

Of course, the alternative for a trip to the Royal Alberta Museum is one to the Art Gallery of Alberta. Here, you’ll find some incredible pieces from both well-known and up-and-coming artists from around the world. If you feel like a little culture is what you need, this is your spot.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Cost: $14

MUTTART CONSERVATORY

It was a long time coming, but the Muttart Conservatory has returned to the city! This iconic Edmonton attraction is a must-do on those less than stellar summer days. Heck, we even like visiting when the sun is shining, and especially if it’s paired with a walk in the park before or after.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 9626 96a Street NW
Tickets: $14.95 for GA

IMAGINE VAN GOGH

Originally from Europe, this exhibition showcases the artist’s best works on a larger-than-life scale, using high-quality projectors and audio for a more immersive experience. If you’re looking for a fun blend of art and technology, then this is a great time.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 7515 118 Avenue NW
Cost: $41.61 and up for GA

TELUS WORLD OF SCIENCE

The Telus World of Science is back, baby! In addition to the regular exhibits, they’ve also brought in a new one titled Expedition: Dinosaur. And, as a special treat, the Zeigler Dome has reopened for laser shows as well! That’s a triple threat of indoor fun this week, if you ask us.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 11211 142 Street NW
Cost: $31.45 for GA

WATCH A MOVIE

If you need a little more relaxed choice, Edmonton’s movie theatres have reopened! All of the Cineplex locations are back, but we usually check out what’s playing at local theatres like the Metro Cinema first. Why? Because we’re film buffs, that’s why.

When: Showtimes throughout the week
Where: 8712 109 Street NW
Cost: $13

That’s what we’ve got in mind for this week, Edmonton! Enjoy the last few days of August, and start September with a bang!
