10 of the best things to do in Calgary this week (December 27-31)

Christmas has come and gone but there’s still plenty of fun to be had – especially because a new year is right around the corner! This time around, we’ve got celebratory dinners, popup bars and light displays, fireworks and even a few homey suggestions for those who’d prefer to stay in, so buckle up! Here are 10 things to do in Calgary this week.

GO BOXING DAY SHOPPING

SEE THE SCIENCE CENTRE SPARKLE, SPARKLE

Ring in the new year with a little magic, whimsy, and light! This week Calgarians can check out an event unlike anything else in the city and maybe score some date-night points in the process. Don’t miss it, folks, this could be your last chance to check it out!

GO SKATING ON ONE OF CALGARY’S ICE TRAILS

This week, those looking to get their blades frosted can hit one of the two magical ice skating trails, now open within Calgary’s city limits.

NOG YOURSELF OUT AT SIPPIN’ SANTA

So what if Christmas is over. We’re not done celebrating it. This week, check out Sippin Santa, a festive event that has completely transformed Ricardo’s Hideaway on 17th with over-the-top decorations from floor to ceiling.

RENT A FIREPIT WITH THE FAM

RING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH FIREWORKS AT THE CALGARY TOWER

2022 is going to be explosive! At least, it will be if the City of Calgary has anything to say about it! Next week, bundle up and head out to your favourite viewing spot for a firework spectacular which will also be accompanied by music on CJSW 90.9 FM.

WATCH NIGHTRISE AT THE BANFF GONDOLA 

As if a ride on Banff’s gondola wasn’t already one of the most magical experiences you can have in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains this winter, Pursuit, the company behind the high climbing attraction presents Nightrise – an immersive activity that merges multimedia, storytelling and nature for what they’re calling a “new and inspiring perspective” at the location.

BINGE NETFLIX’S DECEMBER RELEASES
