There are two things most Albertans look forward to in the summertime. The sweet smell of BBQ wafting through the air and pitching a tent! We live in one of the country’s most beautiful provinces and are surrounded by mountains, trees, trails, and wildlife, so it’s only natural that we want to take advantage of it. This sunny season, stock up on beer, toss the gear in the car, and hit the hills, valleys, and peaks that we’re so lucky to call our backyard! Here are 10 bucket list camping spots in Alberta – because you should really make the most of it!

CARSON PEGASUS PROVINCIAL CAMPGROUND

Located NW of Edmonton, this lakefront campsite has a ton of comforting amenities and a view to beat (this place is GORGEOUS.) Also, from their boat launch, fish cleaning stations, and a pier to its on-site convenience store, parks, and showers – guests can stay for a long time and have a good time.

ASPEN CROSSING

Aspen Crossing is not your average campground. Here, guests can experience comfort, fresh air, and history either from their tent an RV or – for those of you who prefer to ‘glamp,’ their repurposed train cars. Not only is the whole ‘theme’ of it all a ton of fun, but the park also has a ton of family-friendly perks like their pigpen, flower garden, chicken coop, and even a lagoon where you can wind down with your feet in the sand. Trying to get someone out to the bush – that would otherwise never go? This is your place.

Unlike anything else that you’ll see in the province, this haunted experience acts as a campsite, haunted house hybrid with creepy touches throughout the entire park. Explore spooky houses, participate in movie nights and play games with other guests during your stay! It’s essentially a Halloween-themed summer camp for adults.
