Just a few minutes away from Ottawa is where you’ll find Chapman Mills. This area sprawls across 23 acres of land, located on the west bank of the Rideau River.

Per Rideau Valley Conservation Area, Chapman Mills features a natural river shoreline, wetlands, and floodplain areas that are unique in the city.

This is the perfect family spot for picnics, a day outdoors, and simply going for a walk.

Chapman Mills has a 1.5 km long trail with several lookout points along the way.

As you venture along the trail you’ll come across a few boardwalks. Continue forth and you’ll also come across the Vimy Memorial Bridge on the Rideau River.

Wherever you end up, you’ll get scenic views of the Rideau River and the beautiful wildlife that habitats the area.

You can also find interpretive signs along trails that tell the environmental story of the land.

Though it might not be a day trip type of experience if you’re coming from Toronto, it is worth exploring if you just so happen to be in the Ottawa area.
