We may be approaching the end of August, but the season of fun in the sun is far from over. Yorkville Murals (YVM) is making its way to the city this weekend, with a free rooftop party to celebrate.
YVM is described as an “eight-day cultural event that celebrates contemporary muralism and public artists,” according to its website.
The famously upscale neighbourhood will transform into a colourful art walk this week, with cultural activations, installations, speaker panels, and movie screenings for the public to enjoy.

“YVM builds on Yorkville’s reputation as a historic enclave of Toronto’s early twentieth century art scene.”
It wouldn’t be a proper celebration without a party, and in true Toronto fashion, it’ll be held on a rooftop!
The event is called YVM Block Party and will be held on the roof of the parkade at 148 Cumberland.
Admission is free but RSVP is required as capacity is limited, and early arrival is recommended to guarantee your spot.
The party will feature live DJs, food, an exclusive lounge, and of course, plenty of art to see.
The event will run all day long from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m., with day-to-night festivities and expansive views of the surrounding city.
The block party is one of many events to check out during YVM, with activities held in various zones throughout the neighbourhood.
Zone 1, a.k.a. YVM HQ, will have pop-up containers, sculptures, and installations, as well as a European-inspired outdoor dining and live music lounge called Café Artois.
Zone 2 is the Murals Courtyard at 99 Yorkville, which is a dedicated outdoor space to view colourful murals by several different artists.
Zone 3 is the Woodford Lounge, an “artistic, fun and playful space” curated by Woodford Reserve where you can sip cocktails surrounded by murals.
