Vancouver was just named one of the very best cities in the world

The 2026 World’s Best Cities Report is officially out, and Vancouver was just named one of the best in the world. Among global giants like Singapore, London, Paris, New York City, Tokyo, and Madrid, this makes Vancouver’s ranking even sweeter.

The report identifies the top 100 “urban powerhouses” across over 270 cities worldwide based on Resonance Consultancy’s mix of data analysis and real-life perception of each location. The resulting list of cities highlights the most globally influential and economically sound places to live, visit, and invest in.

Coming in at #41 out of 100, Vancouver received special recognition for its superior air quality and educational attainment.

“Gorgeous and smart, Vancouver is embracing its global reputation as a coveted, livable destination,” reads the report. “Its talent magnetism keeps pulling them in, coaxing global talent and students with clean air (Top 5 globally) and seawall sunsets.”

UBC and SFU were highlighted as #19-ranked universities, and combined with the educational background and talent already in the city, Vancouver’s business ecosystem was ranked #40.

While we might refer to it as “No Fun City” from time to time, there’s definitely an increased demand for new city developments that are already in the works, as tourism in the area continues to rise. Replacing the Pattullo Bridge, opening Oakridge Park’s revived cultural district, the completion of the Broadway Subway in 2027, and the unlocking of new hotel rooms are just some of the ways City Hall is working to bring Vancouver up to par with other global destinations.

Let’s hope that residents and visitors alike can enjoy the results of these projects sooner rather than later!
