Some Canadian airlines have had a bad rep in the past few years but it looks like the hovering dark cloud is no more and they’re back to making the ranks when it comes to low-cost airlines.
The annual Skytrax 2022 World Airlines Awards looked into a number of airlines that we use and love every time we hit the skies. The awards based their ranking on a number of factors like airport service, and cabin service, just to name a few.
Award categories included the world’s top 20 airlines, world’s best cabin staff, world’s best low-cost airlines, and more. And when it comes to low-cost flying, you know we’re interested to know who came out on top.

Though the competition was tough, the only Canadian airline to make the World’s Best Low-Cost Airlines is Air Canada Rouge in 17th place. It also scored a spot in the World’s Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airlines category, landing in third place. Pretty impressive.
But it doesn’t end there. When ranking the Best Low-Cost Airlines in North America 2022, Air Canada came in second just falling behind the U.S-based airlines Southwest Airlines.
Though we aren’t THE best in the world, we are definitely among them. Cheers to that!
