This Ontario garden’s holiday lights experience is more interactive than ever

Winter is coming early to the Royal Botanical Gardens, and with it comes one of Ontario’s most beloved seasonal traditions, Winter Wonders. Every year, Hendrie Park transforms into a glowing outdoor escape, but this holiday season promises even more magic, more light and more reasons to bundle up and explore the park.

Royal Botanical Gardens’ Winter Wonders is set to shine brighter than ever with dazzling light displays, festive installations, and even scenic pathways that feel straight out of a holiday storybook.

What to expect at Winter Wonders – RBG

Visitors are able to stroll through the magical pathways of RBG’s winter landscape, enjoy the festive music that sets the mood, and treat themselves to some holiday treats.

But for 2025, Winer Wonders is adding a few new things to check out.

Interactive art installations by Canadian artists invite guests to do more than just admire the decor. This year, visitors can actually become part of it. These hands-on pieces encourage you to touch, explore and play – letting you literally shape the magic around you.

There’s a total of three new installations alongside past favourites.

Other goodies to explore include:

  • Artisan Village – Stroll the mini-Christmas Market and shop for gifts and more from local crafters and artisans.
  • Botanical Train Display – 2,500 plants create a seasonal backdrop for seven different lines of model train tracks. Enjoy scale models of iconic Canadian landmarks constructed entirely from plant materials
  • Indoor seasonal displays – Finish your visit with a stroll through the displays at RBG! Pass through the Breezeway and lit Mediterranean Garden
  • Sips and bites – The team will be serving a rotating menu of festive snacks and warm drinks available for purchase from one of the three stations along the trail
  • The Garden Shop – Find the perfect holiday gifts or something for yourself.

Whether you’re hunting for gifts, soaking in the lights, or just searching for a dose of holiday joy, Winter Wonders is the place to visit this season.

See you there!
