Thrills and chills: Here’s where you can go camping in Alberta this winter

Wild Rose Country is a treat in the wintertime. Even with snow on the ground, there are plenty of things to do and see outdoors, so why cut your trip short?

It might not be everyone’s cup of tea but camping in Alberta can be enjoyed no matter the season and is a great way to experience the province unlike ever before.

From hiking up a mountain to skating on a frozen lake or exploring a new trail, the possibilities are endless and the campgrounds are aplenty!

“We are fortunate to have access to so many winter playgrounds across the province,” said Todd Loewen, the Minister of Forestry and Parks in a press release.

“I encourage every Albertan to spend as much time as possible outdoors this season. From camping with loved ones in a provincial park to adventuring down your favourite trail, Alberta’s Crown lands offer many opportunities to make memories that will last a lifetime.”

There are actually 26 frontcountry and 45 backcountry sites across the province, including a few that offer comfort camping to those who prefer amenities.
