This boardwalk trail in Ontario overlooks rushing whitewater rapids

Ready to take a walk on the wild side? White Water Walk in Niagara Falls takes you right to the edge of some of North America’s most powerful whitewater rapids!

This incredible attraction offers a firsthand encounter with the raw power of the Niagara River’s Class 6 whitewater rapids.

To begin your journey, you’ll ride an elevator down 70 meters and then walk through a 73-meter-long tunnel.

Then, you’ll get to venture along a scenic boardwalk right along the river’s edge.

The boardwalk stretches 305 meters (1,000 feet or 1/4 mile), and there are stairs leading to two observation areas at the edge of the river.

“Prepare to be immediately immersed in the soothing roar of North America’s largest series of standing waves the moment you step out from the exit tunnel,” says Niagara Parks.

As you walk, you’ll be treated to sights of crashing waves and the 410-million-year-old rock layers of the Niagara Gorge.

From the observation deck, you’ll witness the amazing Whirlpool Rapids flowing by at a speed of 48 km/hour.

Located just 4 km north of the Falls, the White Water Walk is easily accessible via the WEGO bus route and is close to the Whirlpool Bridge.

It is also within walking distance of the Niagara Falls Ontario train and bus stations, with free parking available.

While the attraction is mostly wheelchair accessible, there are two small viewing areas that can only be reached by stairs.

White Water Walk is now open for the season until mid-November, weather permitting.

So don’t miss your chance to see this incredible sight for yourself!
