Another holiday is nearly here and it’s high time to plan the weekend ahead! This Canada Day, government employees and shops all over the city will be closing early or just taking the entire day off, so take note, because nothing kills a vibe quicker than a locked door.
Here is everything open and closed on Canada Day in Calgary.
Hoping to catch a flick this weekend? Landmark Cinemas, Cineplex and Calgary’s cheap theatre, Canyon Meadows, will all be open this weekend.
Though we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, Southcentre Mall, CrossIron Mills, CF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall and The CORE Shopping Centre will all be open on July 1st.

Having a BBQ? Need milk or need to do a last-minute beer run before you head to your campsite? You’re in luck. Though (again) we’d recommend checking your store’s hours, most liquor and grocery shops will be open on July 1st.

Go back in time this Canada Day at Heritage Park! This year, Calgarians can check out old-timey buildings, shops, carnival rides and special programming!

Sorry, folks – but this Canada Day, the following facilities will be closed in lieu of the holiday. Don’t worry though, it won’t be long until they reopen.
Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Canada Day the post office will be closed.
While grocery and convenience stores will be open this weekend Costco will be unshoppable. Looks like you’ll have to get your massive hot do fix before Canada Day!
From the passport office to the DMV, all government offices will be closed on Canada Day.
Due to the setup of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, the Stampede grounds will be unavailable to the public this year. In addition, vehicle access into West Ramsay (Scotsman’s Hill) Crescent Hill and the following roads in East Village will be closed.
