This historic Ontario town is only minutes away from beautiful waterfalls & trails

Next up on our Ontario travels is the lovely town of Dundas, Ontario – also known as “valley town,” thanks to it being located in a lush landscape at the foot of the Niagara Escarpment. Home to historic buildings right in the heart of the picturesque Dundas Valley, here’s what to know about Dundas.

Just an hour’s drive west of Toronto is Dundas, a charming town with a quaint downtown core, surrounded by nature.

According to Downtown Dundas BIA, its tree-lined streets features historic 19th-century buildings, home to arts, culture, recreation, and over 100 shops, restaurants and more.

It’s a lovely summer day trip for those looking for a fun escape from the busy city streets.

Though it’s a great town to fuel up if you’re looking for a bite or two, what stands out the most is its proximity to a number of waterfalls just minutes away from the downtown core.

Head to Spencer Gorge Conservation Area where you’ll find Webster’s Falls and Tew Falls.

And less than 10 minutes away is where you’ll find Canterbury Falls, Sherman Falls, Lower Little Falls, and Tiffany Falls in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area.

This conservation area is described as “one of southern Ontario’s most spectacular natural treasures.”

It is comprised of forests, meadows, streams, wildlife, waterfalls, and ancient geological formations – perfect for a hiking adventure.

There’s also a 40 km recreational trail system that runs through the towns of Ancaster and Dundas for those looking for an outdoor adventure.

There’s tons to do and to see in the town of Dundas and we’re sure you’ll absolutely love it.

Have fun!
