There’s a holiday market coming to Edmonton and it’s all about sustainability

The Reuse Centre’s fourth annual Waste-Less Holiday Market is back for another season.

For one day only, you can shop the unique collection of gifts, clothing and knick-knacks from local vendors focused on sustainable, reusable and waste-conscious products at the Reuse Centre this December.

From wreath arrangements to beautiful personal gifts for friends and family, it’s the perfect stop this holiday season.

What to expect

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Reuse Centre on Dec. 13, the Waste-Less Holiday Market will be using the holidays to help make the city sustainable.

As well as hosting the annual Waste-Less Holiday Market, the Reuse Centre is helping you learn how to make the holidays more waste-conscious with a variety of different programs.

If you’re trying to get rid of your natural Christmas tree this season, there are loads of places the Reuse Centre can point you to. And, if you have an artificial tree you need to dispose of, they recommend donating it to a local charity, second-hand store or the Reuse Centre itself.

In terms of holiday waste reduction ideas, the Reuse Centre recommends giving waste-conscious gifts, for one.

This includes giving experiences, like a day pass to an attraction, a gift card to a restaurant, a class at a local studio, or shopping locally rather than ordering online to reduce packaging waste. Even giving quality gifts that are meant to be used for years and years is helping to reduce waste!

These tips can also be applied in different ways, like waste-wise decor. Buying decor for the holidays that will last you years is helping the environment, including buying decor from second-hand or local stores.

These holidays, you can help make a positive impact on the environment. Whether it’s by visiting the holiday market or reducing waste yourself, it’s up to you!
