Hit the slopes with Santa Claus at this ski resort near Calgary

Want to spot jolly Saint Nick before he heads back to the North Pole for Christmas? At this local Alberta ski resort, he’s been known to hit the slopes.

Lake Louise Ski Resort will be home to a vacationing, skiing Santa Claus, who will stop for pictures and hand out candy from Tuesday, Dec. 23, to Thursday, Dec. 25.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can hop like a bunny over to the hill and maybe catch a glimpse of St. Nick. Though how fast he can ski, we’re not quite sure.

What to expect

Lake Louise ski resort is one of Alberta’s premier hills, renowned for its superb views and top-notch skiing. It’s the largest ski area in the Canadian Rockies, with 4,200 acres, a 991 m vertical drop, and an 8 km longest run.

From now until Dec. 25, you can buy a Plus+ Card for just $155, and enjoy three free days plus 20 per cent discounts. If you’re new to the slopes, there’s also a current deal where adult beginners can learn to ski or snowboard for just $85, which includes a lesson, lift ticket and rental gear.

During the holiday season, the resort gets in the holly jolly spirit of Christmas by inviting Santa to ski the slopes. He’ll be out to stop for pictures and deliver candy to everyone on the nice list.

Keep your eyes and ears open for the jingle of reindeer bells, as Santa will also be making a few appearances in the Lodge of Ten Peaks between Dec. 23 and 25.

He’ll have a belly full of jelly and a ruby red nose, plus two ski poles to boot, at this festive holiday feature.

Don’t miss your chance to snap some pics with the infamous skiing Santa Claus — they’ll make for some season’s greetings you won’t soon forget!
