Warmer weather has many Seattleites jonesing to get out of the house. We all have our favorite Washington road trip destinations, but we thought we’d compile a few that are particularly special in spring. Here are 8 places in Washington worth the drive this spring.
Skagit Valley is the place to be in spring for flower lovers. The reason to visit? The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival of course! The valley comes alive with blooms of every color making it a beautiful destination and a great spot to pick up locally grown and picked flowers.

You don’t have to go all the way to England to visit Stonehenge. Sam Hill built a replica of Stonehenge which also happens to be the earliest World War I war memorial in North America and it’s here in Washington. It’s part of the Maryhill Museum and nearby is the first macadam asphalt-paved road in the Pacific Northwest.

Lime Kiln is actually regarded as one of the best places in the entire world to see orcas. The park is located on San Juan Island and is a great place to see the J, K, and L pods of southern resident orcas. The best time of year to see them is from May to September making it a great spring and summer road trip.

Puyallup might not be your first choice for a trip but keep in mind that the Spring Fair takes place during April. During the weekends of April 13th-16th and 20th-23rd, you can get your fix of cute baby animals, fair food, classic rides, and more.

Olympic National Park ranked one of the best road trips in the nation last summer and it’s easy to see why. The park boasts mountains, a rainforest, and of course the coast! For fans of Twin Peaks, North Bend is a year-round destination. This time of year you can enjoy many of the hikes in the area and check out iconic local destinations like Snoqualmie Falls. Of course, all that wouldn’t be complete without a meal at Twede’s aka the RR Diner.

If you’re wanting to go for a scenic walk full of beautiful spring blooms but are a bit burnt on local parks, Lakewold is a great option. The garden has a rich history between once begin the site of a cabin, a private residence and now a beautiful public garden.
