Walmart Canada is expanding across the country with plans to open “dozens” of new stores, three of which are Supercentres in Alberta.
The mega-retailer has just announced a $6.5 billion dollar investment in Canada. That means over the next five years, they will increase their footprint across the country. Besides Alberta, Ontario is part of the plan and both provinces will see new stores launch by 2027. A total of five stores will open through that timeline.
As for the “dozen” they have coming down the pipeline, all those stores have yet to be shared. But as for Alberta, these new Supercentres will open in Calgary, Edmonton and Fort McMurray.
According to Walmart Canada, these new Supercentres will open by 2027.
“Walmart Canada is on an ambitious growth journey to serve even more Canadians – better and differently than ever before. This $6.5 billion investment is the largest we’ve made in Canada towards expanding our footprint since we first arrived here 30 years ago,” said Gui Loureiro, regional CEO, Walmart Canada, Chile, Mexico and Central America.
As for where these Supercentres will open in Alberta, that has yet to be disclosed.
But like always, we will be sure to keep you updated on the new stores set to come.
